Born in 1932, Michael Flint was a lawyer and a film production executive, eventually becoming head of production for Paramount Pictures in Europe. He returned to the law in 1973 where eventually he became the Chairman of Denton Hall (now Denton Wilde Sapte). He is now retired and lives in Orford, Suffolk where he devotes his time to art and writing.
In 1978, Michael won the national prize for best picture at the Law Society of England and Wales Art Group annual exhibition. In 2004 one of his etchings won their prize for best work on paper.
In 1997, he had his first solo exhibition: of watercolours at the Aldeburgh Cinema Gallery in Suffolk, England.
In 1999, he was commissioned by the Château de Montcaud Hotel, Bagnols-sur- Ceze, France, to make an etching of the hotel as their millennium present to their guests.
His etchings, which are now his preferred medium, have been in numerous exhibitions. He has exhibited at Queen’s College, Cambridge, the Aldeburgh Cinema Gallery, the Strand Gallery, the Peter Pears Gallery, with the Thackeray Gallery and Caroline Wiseman Prints. His most recent show was a solo exhibition at the Snape Maltings Concert Hall Gallery in August 2009, where he sold more than seventy pictures.
Michael Flint’s Remakes & Sequels series have been shown in an exhibition organised by Philippe de Boucaud in Paris. His etchings are to be found in private collections in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Canada, the USA and Australia.
He is the Chairman of the Sudbourne Park Printmakers.
